Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
About Our Cutting Boards
What types of wood do you use?
We craft our cutting boards from premium hardwoods including Oak, Cherry, Maple, Walnut, Birch, Mahogany, Poplar (Also called Saw-tooth Aspen), Hickory, and on softwood boards, Hemlock. Each board features a beautiful multi-wood composition that enhances both durability and visual appeal.
What's the difference between end-grain and edge-grain cutting boards?
End-grain cutting boards are made with the wood fibers running vertically, making them more knife-friendly and self-healing. They're gentler on knife edges and more durable for heavy use.
How do I care for my cutting board?
Clean with warm soapy water and dry immediately. Apply food-safe mineral oil monthly and board conditioner (We use Howard's Butcher Block Conditioner, available here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001ESTA30 ) every few months to maintain the wood's beauty and prevent cracking.
Orders & Shipping
How long does it take to make a custom cutting board?
Most cutting boards are handcrafted within 5-7 business days. Custom orders may take 10-14 business days depending on specifications.
Do you ship nationwide?
Yes, we ship throughout the United States. Shipping typically takes 3-5 business days via standard ground shipping.
Can I add customization options like rubber feet?
Yes! We offer various customization options including rubber feet or juice grooves on boards thicker that 5/8" for an additional fee. Check individual product pages for available options.
Product Care
Can I put my cutting board in the dishwasher?
No, never put wooden cutting boards in the dishwasher. The heat and moisture can cause warping, cracking, and damage to the wood.
What should I do if my board develops a crack?
Small cracks can often be prevented with proper oiling. For larger issues, contact us - we may be able to repair or refinish your board.
How often should I oil my cutting board?
Apply food-safe mineral oil monthly or when the wood appears dry. The board should feel smooth and have a slight sheen when properly maintained.
Custom Orders
Do you accept custom size requests?
Yes, we can create custom sizes for most of our cutting board styles. Contact us with your specifications for a quote.
Product usage
Can these cutting boards be used as personal flotation devices?
Absolutely not! While it is true that wood floats, these boards should not be submerged (even partially) for prolonged periods of time. For most cases, we recommend a vest-type PFD with multiple, front-facing buckles for maximum safety.
